ZERO AT THE BONE 2015 - 2019
Confronting a primal beast tightens the breath. This sensation is referred to as zero at the bone. Emily Dickinson wrote of this, alluding to it as both a danger within nature and an encounter with nothingness. These pictures, made in the Everglades, trade in the world of feeling, symbolism, and the haptic: Moons hover in blackness, sky and water merge. The roles of predator and prey entangle, dissolving into one another; glinting eyes stare back. Here, the darkness, co-occupied by highly adaptive animals, is felt in its fullness: as the beguiling, the bottomless, the sublime.

Earth Mass explores spirituality and mythology through the portal of the nocturnal landscape and the creatures that inhabit it. The series seeks to examine archetypes of the natural world, dissolving the boundaries that separate us from nature.

The series draws its name from the cyclical revolutions of creation and destruction. Primordial forms and colors evoke the violent process of origination and decay, both on the physical plane and the imagined one. Reimagining the moment of The Great Recombination - approximately 300,000 after the Big Bang when light first emerged in the Universe. Molecular processes yielding to young gravitational waves, forming the fundamental elements that form our world and our bodies.
Magnographs 2024 - Ongoing / Angel Series
Magnographs are "drawings" which harness a force normally invisible to the human observer, transmuting it into the visible. Drawings are made using physical magnets, then a layer of magnetic viewing film is placed on top to reveal the magnetic field emanating from the drawing. This is then photographed. This project is a continuation of my search to find new ways to work with the intangible and primary forces that are flowing through the Universe, which impact all of humanity but are taken for granted by their inconspicuous and unseeable nature.
